Lawyer Jordan Daci spoke today on the "Open" show on News 24, regarding the hearing held today at the Appeal Court of the Constitutional Court for the charges against the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.
Daci spoke about the new evidence that SPAK presented today in the hearing, data that emerged as a result of VeliAj's wiretapping by prosecutors.
The lawyer said that wiretapping in prison is legitimate if there is a court order for it.
He said that the chances of Veliaj being released from prison are zero, also due to new evidence from wiretaps.
Lawyer: Wiretapping in prison is legal as long as it is by court order. You can't claim privacy in prison, there is no privacy. Even at home, if the court authorized it, you are wiretapped... Unfortunately, if he was wiretapped, his case has practically been lost in that court, and the chances of him changing that decision are zero. There is also new evidence that shows the essence of the accusation. In Veliaj's circumstances, no other Albanian has any chance of getting out of prison.
