The story of the "Zogu" family, from exile to coming to the homeland
In recent days, a scandal with a lot of media coverage happened in Albania. Prince Leka Zogu II was involved in a physical conflict with his ex-wife Elia Zaharia.

The Zogu-Zaharia couple have not been together for some time and several conflicts have arisen between them that culminated in a physical confrontation. The Zaharia family claims that Leka Zogu physically abused his former father-in-law Gjergj Zaharia, while Prince Leka claims the opposite.

Also, this event was accompanied by controversies about the reason for the conflict, where there were hints that the cause is property, betrayal, etc.

But who is Leka Zogu II and how did he become the heir to the royal palace and other assets

Leka Zogu II

He is the grandson of King Zog, who proclaimed himself king in 1928 and remained on the throne until 1939, when Italy invaded Albania.
He never returned to Albania, because the communist system that took power in 1944 declared him an enemy.

King Zog died in Paris in 1961.
His family and descendants returned to Albania after the overthrow of the dictatorship in 1991.

His only son was Leka Zogu 1, he returned to Albania where he died in 2004. Thus the inheritance passed to his son Leka Zogu 2.

Prince Leka II was born on March 26, 1982, at 1:43 p.m., in Johannesburg, South Africa at the Sandton Clinic.

The clinic where NTM was born has been declared by the South African government as Albanian land for 24 hours, at the request of NMT Leka I, King of the Albanians. Prince Leka is engaged to actress Elia Zaharia. HM Leka II, Prince of the Albanians was declared Heir to the throne in 2000, after an oath he took before HM Leka I, King of the Albanians, in Johanesbug.

Based on the 1928 Statute of the Albanian Kingdom, the Crown Prince of the royal throne is the eldest son of the Royal Family. So He is declared heir to the Royal Throne after reaching the age of 18, by HM the King. HM Leka II, Prince of the Albanians was declared Heir to the throne in 2000, after an oath he took before HM Leka I, King of the Albanians, in Johanesbug. From that day, He chose to be His Highness Leka II, Prince of Albanians.

Family history

The year 1975 marked the most important event in the Royal Family and guaranteed the inheritance of the crown of the Albanian Royal Dynasty through the marriage of King Leka with Queen Susan. The five years that followed the Madrid Assembly marked the King's titanic efforts to implement the decisions of this assembly.

King Leka, as the eminent representative of the Cause of National Revival and grandfather of his grandfathers Xhemal and Xhelal Pasha, (who were among the most prominent pashalars who conceived and implemented the Assembly and the decisions of the Albanian League of Prizren), was at the same time a standing figure and leader of the National Army and the Military Council for the Liberation of Ethnic Albania.

The breakdown of the official Tirana with communist China dictated the natural intensification of the efforts of King Leka and the anti-communist exile to change the status quo in Albania at that time. Neighboring countries and those of the communist empire joined efforts and contributions in the detailed political-agency platform of sabotaging the war to change this dramatic situation for the Albanian people and nation.

The Yalta Agreement, the policies of détente and maintaining balances in the Balkan region, the continent and the planet, produced the strategy of sabotaging the efforts of the King and the anti-communist exile to overthrow the tyrannical regime in Albania.

In 1976, King Leka held important meetings with compatriots in the USA, in the cities of New York, Waterbury, Detroit, Chicago, Houston, Tampa, Miami, Washington, etc., as well as in Petersburg, Toronto and Montreal, Canada. The intense activity of the King in favor of the national cause, caused the severe counter-reaction of the anti-Albanian circles, which also imposed the emigration of the Royal Family from Spain to Rhodesia in 1979 and to Johannesburg, South Africa in 1982.

No difficulty and geographical distance could prevent the King from organizing, coordinating and supplying weapons to the armed liberation uprising during the spring of 1981 in Kosovo, which was crushed with tank chains and paid for with the blood of nearly 1,200 martyrs who gave life for freedom and who conceived the idea of unification and the struggle for national liberation in all Albanian countries under the bloody rule of Belgrade.

The formation and mixing of King Leka with the western democratic culture, not only did not contradict his aspirations for the national and social liberation of the Albanians, but on the contrary, were justifiable and in accordance with the major patriotic obligations, based on the principles and values of the most great democratic West. The meetings of the Royal Family with Mother Teresa, Pope John Paul II, as well as the King's private meetings with monarchs, presidents and prime ministers of many countries of the democratic world, had in focus and as a common denominator concern for the fate of the Albanian people and nation .

The determination of King Leka not to withdraw from the positioning and declaration in favor of the National Issue and the Cause of Ethnic Albania, did not recognize compromise even when it was declared to the King that the visit to Belgium in 1989 was only allowed in exchange for not mentioning Ethnic Albania. whereupon the King refused and canceled the planned visit.

The time had come for the refactoring and reformation of the forces and efforts of the Albanian anti-communist and democratic circles, whose pivot and symbol was King Leka.

Obstacles to the return of the Royal Family to the homeland delayed the process of dismantling and eradicating communism in Albania through the valuable contribution of King Leka as an anti-communist and a cultivated politician, as a high-profile strategist and leader. Year 1997 - The return of NMT King Leka I to the homeland after a long exile of 58 years, was kindly received at the airport./ Alfapress.al
