Berisha lost the 2023 local elections by a landslide, 54 to 7, marking the party's weakest result in local elections.
Berisha managed to take only 7 municipalities, Memaliaj, Kavajë, Mirdita, Hasi, Vau e Dejës, Puka and Himara.
The latter, we can say, was lost in the first elections a year ago, where the Socialist Party won with Vangjel Tavo, while Fredi Beleri was elected MEP by a Greek party.
Berisha's primaries even resulted in Kavaja's candidate Hysen Kadiu getting the most votes, but this did not help him get on the list.
According to him, he was promised a place and for this reason he withdrew from the race and from the open list.
Mirdita does not have a representative of its own on the list either, as Gjekmarkaj and Elda Hoti are on the closed list.
In Memaliaj there is no candidate since Gjirokastra only has the district leader Tritan Shehu on the list.
Meanwhile, in Shkodër district, neither Fushë Arrëzi nor Puka are represented on the closed lists.
In Kukës, as in Gjirokastra, there is only 1 candidate, namely the one who also leads the district.
So it is noted that none of the areas won by the DP are on the closed list, but on the other hand it is seen that Berisha has placed on safe lists all those who lost in 2023, starting with Belind Këlliçi, Luçiano Boçi, Igli Cara, Eduard Sharka and Zija Ismaili.
