Death of Barcelona doctor, club makes two requests to UEFA on the eve of the challenge with Benfica

The sudden death of Carles Minarro Garcia, a member of the medical staff, has plunged Barcelona into despair.

The 53-year-old doctor's death was confirmed shortly before Saturday's match against Osasuna which was postponed, after the news reached the dressing room and shocked the entire Catalan delegation.

Despite this, the Champions League return match against Benfica will be played as usual tomorrow at Montjuic, albeit in particularly difficult conditions.

Barça have agreed with UEFA that no players will take part in the traditional pre-match press conference, with only Hansi Flick answering questions from journalists. The club have also made a further request, that there be a minute's silence before the start of the match to honour their doctor.
