Since Erion Veliaj's arrest, there have been dozens of articles in the media surrounding the latter, where the targets of attacks have been SPAK prosecutor Ols Dado, as well as GJKKO judge Erjon Bani, the two magistrates who sent the mayor of Tirana to prison.

Regarding these attacks by the media, reactions have come from the High Prosecutorial Council and the High Judicial Council, demanding that journalists adhere to ethics, not violating the human dignity, family, and private lives of magistrates.

"The labels used, the one-sided assessments, without careful and objective reviews, as required by professional journalism, deviate from impartial and balanced reporting by the media. This can lead to unprofessional information and a violation of public trust in justice," the KLP's response states.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Justice states that the delivery of justice must be free from any kind of influence or interference by public or private entities, guaranteeing the impartiality of the judicial system in the service of the public interest.

The High Prosecutorial Council appreciates the mission of independent media to inform the public, respecting the principle of objectivity and that of non-violation of human dignity, family and protection of private life.

In order to guarantee the authority and impartiality of the justice system, the High Prosecutorial Council joins the position of the High Judicial Council in support of all prosecutors of the Republic of Albania, regarding some media reports that may result in a violation of their integrity and independence.

The labels used, the one-sided assessments, without careful and objective reviews, as required by professional journalism, deviate from impartial and balanced reporting by the media. This can lead to unprofessional reporting and a violation of public trust in justice.

Independent and professional justice must prevail in every case, so we encourage cooperation with the media for fair, balanced, and verified reporting.

The High Judicial Council, in line with its ongoing stance in defense of magistrates, has found the publication and broadcast by a media group of materials containing allusions and definitions that violate the dignity of judges who exercise their function at the Administrative Court of Appeal, as well as their family members.

The Council recognizes the role of the media as an essential component in a democratic society, where public information must be provided impartially and professionally. The media have an obligation to respect ethical principles and to avoid publications that aim to damage public confidence in the justice system. In this context, the Council emphasizes the importance of reporting based on verified facts and treated objectively, avoiding the creation of incorrect or harmful perceptions of judges and their families.

The High Judicial Council once again calls on all stakeholders to respect the independence of judges and their commitment to strengthening the rule of law. The delivery of justice must be free from any kind of influence or interference by public or private entities, guaranteeing the impartiality of the judicial system in the service of the public interest.
