Woman attempts to drown in the waters of the Buna River, is rescued by police officers

Shkodra Police officers intervened immediately and, risking their lives, rescued a 59-year-old woman who had jumped into the waters of the Buna River with the intention of committing suicide.

At around 09:30, the Operations Room was notified of the incident and the General Patrol services immediately went to the scene. Police officers entered the water and managed to pull citizen VT, 59 years old, out of the river, in serious condition, but with signs of life.

After being pulled out of the water, police officers provided first aid, while she was transported by ambulance to the Shkodra Regional Hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment.

Police continue to work to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
