
Wanted by Belgium for drug trafficking organization, Albanian arrested in Germany

On Saturday evening, officers from the Waidhaus Federal Police in Germany checked a 25-year-old Albanian man upon entering Germany.
The journey of an internationally wanted person ended in the Nuremberg correctional facility. According to a press release from the Waidhaus Federal Police, their officers arrested an Albanian wanted by the Belgian authorities during border checks on the A6 near Waidhaus. After his appearance before the investigating judge, the officers handed him over to the custody of the judicial authorities.
The 25-year-old had presented the federal police with an expired German residence permit. He was wanted internationally. Belgian authorities were seeking the Albanian with a European arrest warrant on suspicion of drug trafficking and membership in an organized criminal group.
The federal police arrested the wanted man, brought him before the investigating judge at the Weiden District Court and then handed him over to the judiciary in Nuremberg. There he is now awaiting extradition to Belgium.
