The villages of Pojan and Orman, in the Maliq municipality, are facing an alarming situation due to the discharge of sewage and urban waste into the Devoll River. This has caused great concern among residents, who emphasize the negative impact this pollution has on the environment and their health.
Residents say that waste is dumped indiscriminately into the riverbed due to the irresponsibility of the area's residents themselves, but also due to institutional negligence. They call on local authorities to take more drastic measures to stop the dumping of garbage into the Devoll River.
The Devoll River has been very problematic in terms of pollution in certain areas. We have previously raised this concern by conducting field observations not only in the municipality of Maliq but also in that of Devoll.
In the latest case, the Maliq municipality has responded to concerns raised by residents and stated that the area was cleaned two weeks ago. According to local authorities, the cleaning has been done regularly and is an ongoing process, aimed at cleaning the riverbed and removing other debris from the water.
