Military helicopter loses control and crashes off the coast of Qatar, fate of those on board still unknown

Qatar's Ministry of Defense announced today that a helicopter crashed into the sea near the coast of the Emirates.

According to the statement, the helicopter experienced a technical malfunction while performing a routine flight.

A search and rescue operation is underway in the maritime area, as the fate of the people on board remains unknown.

These operations are being carried out in close coordination by the Maritime Search and Rescue Team of the General Directorate of Coastal and Border Security, together with the Qatar International Search and Rescue Team of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya).

Qatar has faced repeated Iranian drone and missile attacks since the start of joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, with the country's industrial city of Ras Laffan, one of the world's largest liquefied natural gas production centers, coming under repeated attacks.
