Earthquake hits Croatia

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Croatia on Tuesday evening, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The epicenter was 26 kilometers from Gospić, 119 kilometers from Split and 14 kilometers from Posedarje, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

The tremors were felt strongly in the vicinity of Zadar, Posedarje and in some parts of Lycian region.

Citizens reported that the earthquake was so strong that they fled their homes.

The earthquake was also felt in Bosnia and Herzegovina, mainly in the areas of Bihac, Bosanska Krupa, Prijedor and Banja Luka. A few minutes after the first earthquake, an aftershock with a magnitude of 2.5 was recorded, 87 kilometers from Split at a depth of 15 kilometers.
