Trump's Trade Adviser: Tariffs Put the US in a Beautiful Situation

President Donald Trump's trade adviser, Peter Navarro, estimates that all the planned tariffs could raise $600 billion a year, about a fifth of the value of total U.S. goods imports.
According to foreign media, Peter Navarro, Trump's trade advisor, spoke to the American news network CNBC.
Asked if the President is interested in countries trying to negotiate over tariffs, Navarro responds by saying they are seeing a "beautiful situation" with the stock market and prices since the introduction of the tariffs.
He tells businesses not to panic about what they are seeing on the stock market, which, as a reminder, opens in less than half an hour.
“Any talk of a recession seems pointless,” he adds. He repeats Trump’s claim from this morning that oil prices are down.
But Navarro further adds that the fees are "much higher" than expected. Navarro says the methodology for calculating the fees was "methodologically sound."
