Killed fighting for Ukraine, US Navy veteran returns home with military honors

A US Navy veteran who was killed while fighting for Ukraine has been repatriated to the US.
According to foreign media, Corey Nawrocki, 41, was killed in action in October last year while serving as a volunteer fighter with the Ukrainian armed forces.
The streets of Lansdale fell silent as his coffin - draped in a U.S. flag - was transported to his hometown with a special escort.
He was respectfully transported from Pennsylvania International Airport to the funeral home where his family and friends were waiting for him.
Nawrocki was a decorated veteran and a two-time recipient of the Purple Heart medal, awarded to those wounded or killed while serving in the armed forces.
Local Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick called him a "true American hero" as he praised Nawrocki's numerous deployments with the US Marines.
"And when freedom was once again threatened, he did not hesitate - volunteering to join Ukraine's elite forces and standing on the front lines in the fight against evil and tyranny," the congressman further said.
He continued: "And let us, as a nation, honor Corey's sacrifice by standing firm in the cause for which he gave his life: rejecting tyranny and defending freedom wherever it is threatened."
"Welcome home, Marine. We are forever humbled by your bravery and will carry your legacy forward always," he concluded his speech.
