Sentencing of former KLA leaders by the Special Court, protesters reveal four

Thousands of citizens gathered in "Skënderbeu" Square in Pristina, in a protest called by the KLA War Veterans Organization, in protest against the Special Court's decision against four former KLA leaders.

In the protest that lasted about 40 minutes, citizens articulated four demands:

-Repeal and amendment of the law on specialized chambers;

-Dismissal of Justice Minister Donika Gervalla;

-Unlimited support and sufficient funds for the protection of former leaders;

-Engagement of international experts in the protection of former leaders.

A protester said in her speech that 'today, when we should be on the second day of the holiday, we are protesting.' According to her, they are protesting because innocence has been punished with draconian sentences, while war criminals and criminals of humanity are roaming free.

"This discrimination, this attempt at a false balance to identify the victim with the aggressor is hurting us to the core. We are desperate that our ideal has been touched, and we are asking ourselves how this land can bear all this pain, all this injustice. How is it possible for all this staging to happen, how did the land not collapse, or what is collapsing this land now that their foot has not stepped on the land of Kosovo? We are here because the necessary struggle of a people who were robbed of their right to freedom, their right to dignity and their right to life in their home is being tarnished, muddied and alienated ," said a protester.
