SPAK is investigating/ After approving it in parliament after midnight and decreeing the new salary formula, Rama begs the magistrates: Let's talk!

While SPAK has launched an in-depth investigation into the Ministry of Finance, Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the approval by the Parliament of the new salary formula. Although after midnight he made it a fait accompli with the socialist votes and the president rushed to decree the law, Rama pleaded this morning, demanding that the government and representatives of the judiciary sit down at a table to find a long-term solution for the magistrates' salary system.

Rama's reaction comes after the Assembly approved the changes to the salary formula in the early hours of Friday, with 84 votes. Just a few hours later, President Bajram Begaj decreed the law, after Parliament requested that the procedure for announcing the decree be carried out urgently.

After the closure of this procedure, Rama has chosen to publicly address the leaders of justice institutions, demanding that the debate on salaries continue at an institutional table.

In his post on social media, the Prime Minister invites the leaders of the High Judicial Council, the High Prosecutorial Council, and the leaders of other judicial institutions to respond positively to the request for a meeting.

According to Rama, the parties should discuss without wasting time a formula that guarantees the salaries of magistrates in the long term, but that at the same time preserves what he calls the balance of the state salary pyramid.

" I hope and believe that the representatives of the judicial power, starting with the leaders of the two councils and then the leaders of the judicial institutions, will respond positively to the invitation to sit together at a working table without wasting time ," Rama writes.

The Prime Minister also sets out the objective of the roundtable. According to him, the discussion should produce a solution that does not address the issue of salaries only for the time being, but establishes a sustainable relationship between the financial treatment of magistrates and the overall state salary system.

Rama wants the discussion to not remain solely between the Albanian government and institutions. He proposes the participation of experts from the Council of Europe, as well as the contribution of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice.
