101 years since the birth of the writer At Zef Pllumi

Today we commemorate the intellectual, Franciscan friar, theologian, writer, and philosopher, Father Zef Pllumi.
Father Zef Pllumi was born on April 7, 1924 in Mali i Renci, in Shëngjin, Lezha. He studied in several fields, such as theology, literature and philosophy, and mastered foreign languages quite well: Italian, French, German, Latin and ancient Greek.
On December 14, 1946, he was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison, at the age of 22. From 1949 to 1951, he dealt with numismatics at the Shkodra Museum. Later, he would serve as a priest of Dukagjini for about 12 years. In 1967, he was arrested and served 23 years in prisons and various camps, such as Spaç, Reps, Ballsh, Skrofotina in Vlorë, Zejmen-Shen Koll, Shën Vasil and Tirana.
In 1990, he returned to Tirana as a cleric and, in addition to his activities, he tries to contribute to the field of Albanian culture and education, so damaged during fifty years of communism.
From 1993 to 1997, he reissued the magazine " Hylli i Dritës ".
He wrote and published the trilogy "Live Only to Tell You", the volumes "The Great Franciscans", "Erazmo Balneo", "The Saga of Childhood", and "The Brother of the Bushatlli Pashas".
One of his initiatives of immense value was the reprinting of the complete series of works by the Franciscan fathers, barbarically disappeared from circulation during the communist regime, as well as the efforts to find the remains of Father Gjergj Fishta.
In 2006, he was decorated with the "Honor of the Nation" award by the President of the Republic.
That same year, he received the "Golden Pen" literary award for his trilogy of memoirs "Live Only to Tell You", awarded by the Albanian Ministry of Culture.
He died on September 25, 2007 in Rome, Italy, and was buried on September 30, 2007 in Shkodra.
Note: His date of birth remained April 7, as a result of a reset by the Civil Court, after he was released from prison for the first time, and they did not take into account either the date of birth that appeared in the school records, or the one recorded in prison (which was different). There are documents that show his date of birth in August.
