The Head of the OSCE Mission, Lamberto Zannier, held a meeting at the Freedom Party. After the meeting, Zannier stated that the OSCE Mission remains committed to supporting democratic institutions and processes in Albania, emphasizing the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
Meanwhile, when asked about the detention measure for Ilir Meta, he emphasized that he could not comment on this issue.
" I cannot give you an opinion on this issue, as we have just arrived in Albania and we stand behind the decisions of the country's institutions, Albanian institutions, and we stand behind the rule of law. We stand behind the rule of law and the application of the law, not politicized ," he said.
Secretary General, Tedi Blushi, stated that he informed the ambassador about the problems so far.
" The focus of the discussions was the use of the administration and public assets by Prime Minister Edi Rama to favor the elections, a practice that has worried the opposition and raised the alarm about an unclear and unfair process ," he said.
Blushi also emphasized that the Freedom Party has requested from the OSCE-ODIHR the guarantee of honest, free and fair elections.
