Katy Perry's hit song "Firework" has sparked a backlash from the White House, with the singer accusing the administration of using the song without her permission in a TikTok video featuring footage of US military operations.

In a post on X, Perry said she was "deeply shocked and angered" by the unauthorized use of the song.

"I did not approve of this, I was not asked for permission, and I absolutely do not tolerate it," she wrote.

Perry recalled that "Firework," released in 2010, was written as an anthem of hope, healing and inner strength for people going through difficult times.

"To use a message of self-worth and encouragement as a backdrop for destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything this song represents," the singer said.

At the end of the reaction, she added: "My music is designed to bring people together, not to celebrate war."

According to TMZ, the video published by the White House's TikTok account showed footage of US military operations, including an attack on an unidentified facility and the explosions that followed, without providing context for the event.
