17 years of statehood, the Kosovo Assembly welcomes 5 thousand child visitors

On the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the declaration of Kosovo's Independence, the Parliament opened its doors to children from Monday. The interest of students from all age groups in seeing the legislative institution up close was very high, and over five days, around 5,000 children visited the Parliament.

The Director of the Directorate for Media and Public Relations in the Assembly of Kosovo, Musli Krasniqi, said that every year, requests to visit the plenary hall where independence was declared on February 17, 2008 are increasing.

"From Monday onwards, for 5 consecutive days, there are 5 thousand visitors, mainly primary and secondary school students and kindergartens, who have expressed their desire to visit the Kosovo Assembly...

This activity is annual - marking the country's independence by opening the doors of the Assembly to children is on the Assembly's calendar as part of the Assembly's commitment to openness and transparency.

"The special thing is that every year we have an increase in requests from visitors, mainly children, to visit the Parliament, more specifically the plenary hall where Kosovo's independence was declared on February 17, 2008," he said.

Krasniqi said that the increase in interest in visiting the Parliament shows a strengthening of children's sense and embodiment of the Independence Day.

"This increase in numbers shows a strengthening of the feeling and embodiment of children and young people with the independence holiday ," said Krasniqi. Kosovo declared independence on February 17, 2008 and its statehood has so far been recognized by over 110 countries around the world. /KP
