Detention of 16 Serbs, Osmani talks with Prattipati about security in Kosovo

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, held a meeting with the Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Pristina, Anu Prattipati, to discuss recent developments in the country, including the security situation in Kosovo and the region.

The meeting took place a day after the announcement by Kosovo authorities of the detention of 16 Serbs in the south and southwest of Kosovo, most of whom were later released.

At this meeting, President Osmani emphasized Serbia's ongoing tendencies to destabilize Kosovo and the region through well-coordinated actions with illegal structures and Serbian criminal gangs. She emphasized that the recent actions of the Serbs arrested in Gjakova and Prizren are related to Serbian military intelligence structures and members of the Banjska terrorist group, according to initial investigations.

Osmani stressed that these actions are part of a continuous effort by Serbia to destabilize Kosovo through threats and violence, and that this constitutes an unacceptable interference in Kosovo's state sovereignty.

For four of the arrested in Gjakova, the Prosecution has requested a month of detention, accusing them of violating the weapons law. Meanwhile, 10 of the 12 arrested in Prizren have already been released, while the other two, with the initials LS and SR, are being held in detention.
