'5D Affair'/ Journalist: GJKKO patronized the municipality directors, the opposition should have reacted

Journalist Sokol Bregu has commented on the decisions of the Special Court (GJKKO) against former officials and directors of the Municipality of Tirana, describing the sentences as lenient and disproportionate to the charges.

Invited to the MCN TV show, Bregu stated that the court has shown "pampering" towards the municipality leaders, while the prosecution, according to him, has not gone to the end of the investigations, especially regarding the property aspect.

He emphasized that the investigation should have been extended to the heads of the directorates and not only to the members of the Bid Evaluation Committees (KVO), who according to him may have been forced to sign decisions contrary to the law.

Bregu:  We are treating it as if it happened today and it is over. The prosecution is in time to request an investigation for everyone. The prosecutor should have requested a property investigation for the director of the department, because the violation of equality in tenders could also be members of the KVO who were forced. This does not mean that the director... The director should have been investigated differently and it did not happen. 

This is not the first time that the GJKKO is giving very light sentences to everyone, mainly to the directors of the Municipality of Tirana, pampering them. A legal analysis is needed to conclude whether it is poor work by the prosecutor or the court giving the former directors of the Municipality of Tirana an easy sentence.

The first trial of the municipal directors is over, no one spoke up about those who received suspended sentences. When the next case comes, the opposition may scream, but it's over.
