Sex scandal in Montenegro, official speaks out after posting videos:

A major political scandal has erupted in Montenegro, following the leak of a sex video involving a senior official and a married advisor to the Montenegrin President.

Mirjana Pajković, director for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, and Dejan Vukšić, former director of the National Security Agency, have been forced to resign after the material was distributed on social media, causing a storm of anger in the government.

Pajković and Vukšić resigned within weeks of each other, following the distribution of inappropriate material purporting to show Pajković performing a sexual act with Vukšić, who is married.

In a statement, Pajković encouraged “every woman” to reject the idea that they should remain silent about such situations and accused Vukšić of blackmail with the video, which she said she did not know about until it was distributed.

"When I was exposed to the extreme violence that I posted on social media, the first person close to the president of the country, the former senior representative of the National Security Agency, insistently and throughout the conversation told me that I would have no place to hide and no place to live in Montenegro ," Pajković said.

She added that her departure was for personal reasons, but accused Vukšić of threatening her with the video, forcing her to keep her mouth shut. According to Pajković, Vukšić threatened her with damages if she did not accept his demands.

“For example, when someone is blackmailing you… When someone more powerful asks for a favor or behavior that you don’t want, and if you refuse, you will be handed over to someone who is the embodiment of the highest power of the state,”  she said.

Both parties have denied the allegations and have filed criminal complaints. Pajković has filed a complaint for the unauthorized distribution of inappropriate material, including a photo of herself. She also claimed to have received threats from a landline inside the president's office.

In a recorded message, a voice is said to have warned that “all of Montenegro will see” the material compromising Pajković.

Following the distribution of the materials, Vukšić resigned in late December, also citing personal reasons. He denied any responsibility for violating Pajković's privacy and distributing the controversial videos, stressing that he first saw the material only when it began circulating illegally on social media.

Vukšić also accused Pajković of stealing the phone that allegedly recorded his threats and of attempting to blackmail him into withdrawing his candidacy for the position of judge on the Constitutional Court.

While it remains unclear who released the sex video, distributing revenge porn is a serious crime in Montenegro. Those found guilty could face sentences of up to five years in prison.
