Trial against Franc Çopja / Testimony from Elbasan continues, his partner defends him in the hearing: He is not aggressive

Several witnesses passed one after another on Thursday morning before the Serious Crimes Court in Brussels, which is currently trying nine people for the murder of Ardit Spahiu, committed on November 27, 2020 in Molenbeek.
Among the witnesses, the current partner of Franc Gergely, known as Çopja, the main suspect in the murder, took the floor via video conference from the United Arab Emirates.
She described him as a loyal man, “never aggressive,” who “never raised his voice in front of anyone.” She stated that she was unaware of any criminal activity by the accused and proclaimed her partner’s innocence.
Previously, an Albanian witness in his thirties, from Elbasan in Albania, the city where the victim was also from, stated via video conference that he knew the two families, Alibej and Çopja, who have been involved in a clan war since at least December 2018.
The court president asked the witness about a fight, dated 2017, that had broken out in a bar in Elbasan and in which Franc Gergely was involved.
The witness described it as a "minor disagreement" and a "simple fight between men" that had escalated.
The presiding judge recalled that the fight had been reported in the Albanian media and that firearms had been used. The witness then admitted to using firearms. He also stated that part of the testimony, given on Monday by the brother of the victim's brother's wife, a member of the Alibej family, was a lie.
Earlier in the morning, a DNA expert spoke before the court, specifying that no other DNA, other than that of Ardit Spahiu and the man who was driving the car he was in shortly before his murder, was found at the crime scene./ LA LIBRE/
