"Millions of euros were extorted, officials, not a day in prison!"/ Lala tells how the "5D" affair of the Municipality of Tirana was exposed: Ridiculous sentences

Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, spoke about the 5D affair and the low sentences received by the officials, who were saved from prison by the Special Court of Appeal. 

Lala said that the release of the file occurred with the change in security measures for Redi Molla and Taulant Tushe, who are under house arrest, while he said that the sentences against officials, who did not serve a single day in prison, are "ridiculous". 

"Before I talk about today's decision, the unraveling of the "5D affair" began earlier, with the release from house arrest of Redi Molla, who is accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets. There are suspicions that Molla and Qato had created the 5D company and were feeding it with Tirana Municipality tenders.

Since Redi Molla's action was softened and passed into silence, the complete debunking of the 5D file began.

Then for Taulant Tusha, he was sent to house arrest. There was no public reaction. There is still no reasoned decision as to why these people are under house arrest, even though they face serious charges.

For Molla, there is a criminal offense punishable by up to 15 years in prison, and he is being held under house arrest.

The Special Appeal found Eglantina Zere and several others guilty of violating equality in tenders. Zere was the director of Tirana Parking and, according to the prosecution, favored the company Vas Konstruksion, then known as 5D, with tenders.

The first instance had sentenced him and the others to 6-9 months in prison. They were ridiculous, but in prison. The appeal today lifted the prison sentence and sent them to probation for 12 months. So while millions of euros have been extorted, the officials have not spent a single day in prison. They will maintain contact with the probation service, a ridiculous sentence in relation to the affair that has occurred. It is a total blowout of the 5D affair. There should also be property investigations for the officials," said Lala.
