Protesters attacked Iris Luarasi, Edi Rama writes to the European Democrats:

Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded again to the European Democrats, following their criticism of the head of the executive for the flamingo protest, by citing the case of teacher and MP Iris Luarasi.

"So, for your particular breed of lazy democrats, preventing parliamentarians from entering the opening session of Parliament is 'dissent'?" asks Edi Rama.

The Prime Minister publishes footage of activists chasing MP Iris Luarasi inside a shopping mall, as she was on her way to Parliament, for the opening of the new parliamentary session.

He tells the European Democrats that from the comfort of the keyboard this may seem normal, but their colleagues in Albania, from right to left, were yesterday forced to face a series of verbal abuse and physical violence, with eggs and even stones thrown at them.

"Aren't you ashamed to support such disgusting behavior and sell it as democratic dissent? Apparently not," writes Edi Rama.

"By the way, look at how an esteemed member of Parliament, a respected academic and a widely known advocate for women's rights, is abused by your models of 'dissent' while simply trying to get to her workplace," the prime minister continues.

Edi Rama asks the Party of European Democrats not to make Albania part of their agendas and not to drag it "into their digital swamp".

"Albania is a truly free country and much more democratic than your narrow-minded politics. It does not deserve to be chewing gum in the mouths of mediocre people who exchange facts for free political engagement," he concludes.
