"Rama's mind has become a resort and a tower", residents of Maliq against unification with Korça: A referendum should be held and the people should decide

Residents of Maliq have protested against the proposal for a new territorial reorganization, which envisages the merger of 15 municipalities in the country, including the Maliq Municipality.

According to the majority's proposal, Maliqi is expected to merge with the Municipality of Korça. Residents oppose this idea and demand that the Municipality of Maliqi continue to function as a separate unit.

"We want the municipality here. We have the services here and there is no need for us to merge with the Municipality of Korça," the protesters said.

Residents demanded that a referendum be held on this issue and that the decision on the future of the municipality be made by the citizens themselves.

"Let there be a referendum and let the people decide," was another demand of the protesters.

During the protest, some of the residents also leveled accusations against the government, claiming that citizens feel threatened and lack the courage to openly express their opposition.

"A dictatorship system has been created here that threatens them and people do not have the courage to come out," the protesters declared.

While another citizen of Maliq said, "Rama's mind is on resorts, towers and concerts and he has forgotten the problems of the people."
