He killed his wife the day before the divorce, details of the serious crime of the Albanian in Greece

New details have come to light in the murder of 44-year-old Albanian Esma Meço in Greece, who was allegedly killed by her husband, 53-year-old Bujar Muço.

According to Greek media, the victim had been experiencing domestic violence for years and had decided to end her marriage. She had scheduled an appointment with her lawyer to begin divorce proceedings, but was unable to attend, as she was murdered the day before the appointment.

The incident occurred yesterday in the village of Dialambi and according to information published by Greek media, the 53-year-old man stabbed his wife inside the apartment, while the couple's two children, a 16-year-old daughter and a 19-year-old son, were also there.

The daughter allegedly witnessed her mother's final moments, while the son transported her to the hospital. Despite the doctors' efforts, the 44-year-old woman could not survive.

According to local residents, Esma Meço was described as a hardworking and devoted woman to her family. During the summer she worked seasonally on the Greek islands and this year she had worked in Thassos, before returning to celebrate her daughter's birthday.

Greek media reports that the motive for the constant conflicts between the couple was allegedly related to the 53-year-old's jealousy. Investigators do not rule out the possibility that the wife's decision to divorce may have further fueled the situation.

The case of violence was not unknown to the authorities. In 2022, when the couple was in Crete, the 44-year-old woman had reported her husband for domestic violence. He was arrested, but later released.

After the crime, Muço allegedly attempted suicide by injuring himself and consuming an unknown amount of liquid. He is in hospital and is reported to be out of danger.

According to Greek media, he has been charged with murder, domestic violence and violation of weapons legislation.
