7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia, moments of panic inside the cabin of the

Moments of panic were recorded inside the cockpit of an Airbus A320 as a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Colombia. The plane was at Matecaña International Airport, in Pereira, and was preparing for takeoff when the strong tremors began.

Footage released by Colombian media outlet El Tiempo shows the Airbus A320 shaking violently as it was on the runway. According to reports, the shaking lasted for around 46 seconds, causing moments of fear and tension among staff and passengers.


Despite the intensity of the earthquake, after the tremors ended, the plane continued with planned procedures and took off from the Pereira airport. The earthquake also caused damage to the airport's infrastructure. Images published on social networks show the collapse of part of the roof in an area where several people were. According to the mayor of Pereira, Mauricio Salazar, three people lost their lives in this incident. Meanwhile, the death toll in Pereira has increased significantly. According to the latest data from the city's Fire Department, 66 people have lost their lives, while dozens of buildings and apartments have collapsed as a result of the earthquake. Images from the cockpit of the Airbus A320, where the plane shakes strongly while on the runway, have been circulating on social networks and clearly show the force of the tremors.
