One more member, the family from Peqin is "in trouble" with the civil

Cases of errors in civil registry offices are numerous, and one of them was also addressed in the show "Piranjat".

Oltjana Beqiraj, a woman from Peqin, wanted her father to take ownership of the land from her deceased grandfather. Before this process could begin, Bexheti, Oltjana's father, had to first obtain the signatures of the four other family members, Talibja, Fatbardha, Tafili and Lytfija. But to do this, they first had to obtain a certificate from the civil registry office, which revealed that Oltjana had an extra aunt named Habibe, whom she had never known.

"When we went to the notary, he asked us for the certificate from 1950-1974, to continue the ownership procedures, that is, to transfer the properties from grandfather to father. When we received the certificate from 1950-1974, we saw Habibe's name. At that moment, we were all surprised, not me, but also other family members, aunt, uncle and father. This person was unknown to us," said Oltjana.

To find out who Habibja was, "Piranjat" together with Oltjana went to the civil registry office in Peqin. The civil registry office employee, Thëllëza Sinani, opened the old registers and there it was discovered that this was in fact a mistake made in the 1950s. Habibja turned out to be registered with Talibe's birth certificate and her name was only written in one civil registry office, because it did not appear in the other.

Eda Shpuza, an employee at the General Directorate of Civil Status, said that the only solution for these situations remains the court, because the law on archives does not allow names to be removed from old registers./ Piranja
