Spain, 200 thousand euros to Albanian killers to execute port worker

A criminal organization dedicated to cocaine trafficking in the port of Barcelona ordered the murder of David Caballero, the historic port worker who was executed with two shots to the back of the head while he was having breakfast on the terrace of a bar in Montgat, in November. The crime is suspected to be the result of several phone conversations between members of a clan that were intercepted by the Civil Guard as part of a drug trafficking investigation. The intercepts target five people who are heard planning the murder of Caballero, alias Bubito, according to the court case to which La Vanguardia has had access.
The Lleida judge leading the investigation into drug trafficking in the port, in this case because one of the companies importing the goods where the drugs were hidden was located in an industrial area in Lleida, has charged five people with conspiracy to commit murder. The organization was located in the Sant Cosme neighborhood, in Prat de Llobregat, and the alleged leader is J. C, alias Lucky, who has been imprisoned since August 2024 for a crime of domestic violence and is suspected of having ordered his lieutenants from Brians 1 to hire Albanian killers to end the pensioner's life. The price for his 'head' was 200,000 euros. The main reason for the crime is that some time ago, Bubito also tried to end Lucky's life through some hired killers.
The two had a good relationship during the cocaine smuggling operations at the port, according to police sources. In fact, Lucky sold the port employee a luxury house in a residential area in Cabrera de Mar.
The murder of the port worker was committed on November 15, 2024, but the plan to end his life began to take shape a month and a half earlier, on October 1. The Civil Guard recorded a conversation with an associate, where the first reference was made to the attack on Bubito. “There’s an Albanian coming for you,” one of Lucky’s associates tells him. “I’m sure Bubito is inside because he owes me money from home and he lost some jobs working with Albanians” (he lost some drug shipments), the boss replies, ordering: “We have to go after Bubito.”
Drug traffickers in the port also suspect that Caballero wants to rob their clients and that “he is a police informant.” According to police sources, Caballero had been accompanied by a bodyguard for months before his murder, aware that he was being targeted.
In early November, conversations show that the Albanian assassins arrive in Barcelona to carry out the orders given by Lucky in exchange for 200 thousand euros. An associate comments that he “met with the guy who brought the ‘persons to the ceremony’”, referring to an Albanian who brought other Albanians to settle scores.
Four hours after the crime, Lucky received a call in prison from an associate who informed him of the incident. “Did you know?” he asked. “How was I supposed to know? That ‘faggot’ Bubito got involved with some Albanians, with a bunch of bad people, and he got what he wanted,” the leader replied.
On 10, 17 December and 14 January, the Civil Guard carried out a police operation that resulted in the arrest of 25 people linked to the organisation run by Lucky. 7 tonnes of cocaine and 6 million euros in cash were seized, as well as long guns and assault weapons such as AK47s. The conversations found by the Civil Guard that incriminate some of the arrested with the alleged commission of the murder of David Caballero are to be sent to the judge in Badalona who is leading the investigation together with the Mossos d'Esquadra, a procedure that has not yet been developed.
Wiretapped phone conversations show that members of the organization considered bribing a judge to ensure that Lucky, the alleged ringleader of the plot, could be released from prison, where he was serving a sentence for a domestic violence crime. “An individual, whose identity is unknown, confirms to Lucky that he has the contact of a prosecutor who could influence his legal situation,” a report from the Civil Guard says.
In another conversation, a relative of Lucky's tells him that "they are going to bribe the judge" and that he has spoken to a retired judge who has told him if his situation cannot be resolved legally. The Lleida judge who is investigating them also accuses them of conspiracy to commit bribery.
