Israeli-Palestinian conflict/ Final draft of G7 conclusions does not refer to

The final draft of the G7's closing statement, which will be released today after the foreign ministers' meeting in Canada, does not contain a single reference to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The document defines a "political horizon" for the Palestinian people as an "imperative", which must be achieved through a negotiated solution that meets the aspirations of Israel and the Palestinian people.

The G7 foreign ministers also called on Hamas to release the hostages and return the bodies of the dead still in the Gaza Strip, underlining their countries' support for the resumption of humanitarian aid deliveries to the Palestinian civilian population.

G7 representatives also reportedly expressed concern about rising tensions and hostilities in the West Bank.
