Democratic MP Ferdinand Xhaferraj says that the dynamics of political events within the Democrats in the last three years showed that Sali Berisha had a personal agenda more than an electoral one.

"Berisha knows better than anyone why we can't win the elections. He left in 2013, with good and bad, and with the passage of time, because time takes its course, he resigned."

Now the return has its own things, did he return for a personal agenda or for the interests of the DP? He was the main investor in supporting Basha loss after loss and then attacked him and removed him after 2022 and this raises strong doubts and makes me think that the DP is in function of the agenda of the president and not the elections and the party.

"He attacked Basha when he expelled him from the party. I did not lie to the citizens of Durrës that I wanted a seat in parliament, I have been inside the parliament half of these years and outside it half of the time. I have been consistent in my political line," the Democrat MP told Report TV.

And in the end, he is clear about the end of this electoral story, given the situation.

Although he hopes that the opposition will achieve rotation on May 11, Xhaferraj says that if Berisha loses, he should permanently leave the party.

"I have been against Mr. Berisha before, along with Genc Pollo. Berisha returned in 2005, embraced the principles created at that time, in the right-wing positions. We supported him and things happened.

If Berisha does even worse in these elections than Basha did in 2021, then this should lead to him leaving the leadership of the DP, because we need new leadership so as not to lose in 2029.

I would understand a strong campaign and a close result with few mandates and a list of MPs. I would like the opposition to win these elections, provided the interests of the country and citizens prevail.

"But I think that Berisha and Rama should rise to the level of Fatos Nano in 2005, accept the election results, stop the rhetoric and leave," Xhaferraj concluded.
