Court issues verdict, 1 month in prison for Milorad Dodik and two other leaders

The court confirmed to Radio Free Europe late Friday that it has ordered the detention of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, Prime Minister Radovan Višković and National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić.

Dodik, Višković and Stevandić are suspected of attacking the constitutional order, a criminal offense under the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which provides for a prison sentence of up to five years and a ban on exercising official duties.

They have ignored calls from the Bosnian Prosecutor's Office to appear for an interview.

Therefore, the Bosnian Prosecutor's Office issued an order on Wednesday to forcibly bring them in for questioning.

The Bosnian Criminal Procedure Code provides for the possibility of issuing an order for forced conduct to give a statement, in case a person summoned to judicial institutions refuses to appear in person.

If this is not possible, the next step is to issue a national arrest warrant.

The order to detain Dodik, Vishkovic and Stevandic was issued to the state-level judicial police on Wednesday, with assistance also requested from the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA).

The State Prosecution had previously announced that investigations into this case had begun in December 2024, due to well-founded suspicions of the commission of this criminal offense.
