Ali Kolina is an 80-year-old man from the village of Gorre in the Kurbin Municipality. For more than 3 years, the elderly man has been living in inhumane conditions, in a building that previously served as a cowshed. Until November 26, 2019, Aliu lived in normal conditions in his house, which was destroyed by the strong earthquake that hit Albania. Despite being included by the Kurbin Municipality on the reconstruction lists, his apartment still remains in ruins to this day. After the earthquake, Aliu left to live in a rented house, the payment for which was made by the municipality with a fund for renters. But after the interruption of the bonus, the elderly man from Laçi was forced to return to live in the cowshed.
In that environment he had no conditions whatsoever, and Aliu even told "Piranjat" that he had not washed his clothes for over a year and had not even washed himself. The old man confessed that he has been living alone for almost 20 years, because his wife passed away at a very young age, and he does not speak to his children due to many circumstances, for which neither party can be judged.
Regarding his case and the house that has not been rebuilt, Roland Vathi, a lawyer at the Kurbin municipality, said that due to the heavy workload, it has not yet been realized and that measures will be taken to make the house as soon as possible when the weather conditions improve. Meanwhile, the mayor of the Fushë Kuqe administrative unit, Kristo Martinaj, together with two social care workers, promised to help the elderly man with food packages and find him a temporary home until his house is rebuilt.
