French President Emmanuel Macron, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah in a joint statement have called for the immediate return of the ceasefire in Gaza.
Following the proceedings of the Cairo summit, the trilateral statement emphasizes that "governance and maintenance of order and security in Gaza, as well as in all Palestinian territories, must be exclusively under the auspices of a Palestinian National Authority", PNA, strengthened and enjoying strong regional and international support," the statement says.
The French president arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening. On Tuesday, Macron plans to travel to the Gaza Strip. According to the Elysée Palace, he plans to meet with humanitarian workers in the town of Al-Arish to underscore his support for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Arish is located about 50 kilometers from the Gaza Strip and is an important crossing point for delivering aid to the Palestinian territory.
