"They didn't buy our strawberries"/ Fier farmers protest: They

Farmers in Fier are protesting this Monday regarding their strawberry production. According to them, collection points have refused to accept their production, claiming that the strawberries contain pesticides.

This refusal to accept strawberries from collection points comes after the scandal of strawberries with pesticides imported from Greece. Farmers have thrown strawberries on the ground in protest while emphasizing that the AKU did not go to take samples for analysis of strawberries cultivated on their lands.

"We are asking for help from the state. Take samples from the lands where strawberries are. The AKU has not come to any plot. Our strawberries in this area hold the record, but our state accepts to import from abroad. I feel sorry for the new generation. I had my son here, I felt sorry when he left. This new generation is leaving this country at the same time that Rama is asking them to return and work. Strawberries were sold for 2 thousand lek/kg. Today, there is no talk of a kilo. All the strawberries are unharvested. Today, we cannot pay the workers. A worker who harvests 25 boxes will get 20 thousand lek. If the state does not intervene, they should leave," the farmers say.

They add that 300-400 farmers are affected by the strawberry mismanagement. They blame the collection points for abuses and that the propaganda is not done at them.

"There could be 300-400 farmers. These are the invoices, without a price or anything. We are at the mercy of fate, the state will not care. It only comes for votes. We work in these two months of the year. Half of it rotted from the weather, no subsidies, the collection points take the money. Propaganda is being done at the points, nothing to the farmer. Zero," the farmers say.
