Stock market crash from tariffs, Trump to Americans: Hold on! Don't be stupid!

US President Donald Trump has again defended his trade policies for imposing tariffs.
In a post on his social media account, Truth Social, Trump urged Americans to stay strong and courageous, not succumbing to the consequences of his economic policies. “The United States has a chance to do something that should have been done decades ago. Don’t be weak! Don’t be stupid! Stay strong, courageous, and patient, and greatness will result!” he wrote.
Meanwhile, in a statement to the media earlier, Trump insisted that he had not intended to cause a fall in financial markets, but reaffirmed his commitment to eliminating the United States' trade deficit.
"We have a trillion dollar trade deficit with China, hundreds of billions of dollars that we lose every year. Without this being resolved, there will be no deal," Trump said.
Global financial markets are experiencing their worst session since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020, due to US tariffs.
Thus, in London, the FTSE index fell 4.9 percent; the Dax in Germany fell by 10 percent in the first minutes of the day, while the CAC in France fell by 5.7 percent.
The trend has also affected the Italian stock market, which fell by 6.51 percent, as well as the Spanish one, which lost 6.06 percent.
At the closing hour, the markets experienced a kind of stabilization, with losses being reduced; but again, the situation remains tense and complex.
US stock markets themselves also suffered losses on Monday. The S&P fell 3.5 percent, the Nasdaq 4.5 percent and the Dow Jones 2.9 percent.
Asian markets also recorded a dark day, as the escalation of the global trade war continues to put pressure on investors.
The Hong Kong stock market fell by almost 10 percent at the opening, while Japan's Nikkei fell by 6 percent, marking its lowest level in 18 months.
Trump called on American citizens to support the tariffs, as they will boost the American economy by encouraging major global companies to relocate to the US.
