Darkness "in the middle of the day" will invade Spain, panic among the population: There will be fires

Millions of people in Europe will have the opportunity to observe a solar eclipse today, while Spain seems to be perhaps the most favorable place to see this rare phenomenon.

Tonight, just before sunset, the Moon will pass in front of the Sun, temporarily darkening the sky over large parts of the old continent. In Spain, large areas of the country will be able to observe a total solar eclipse for the first time in more than 100 years.

Meanwhile, in Germany and other European countries, the eclipse will only be partial. Atmospheric conditions in Spain are expected to be generally favorable for observing the phenomenon. Experts warn that observing the Sun should only be done with special, certified eclipse glasses.

Looking directly at the Sun, even when it is partially covered by the Moon, can cause permanent eye damage. In Spain, authorities are also on high alert due to the risk of forest fires.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to gather in open areas and high points to watch the eclipse, while the temperatures and dry conditions increase the risk that a little carelessness will cause a fire. Spain has faced large forest fires earlier this year, which have engulfed significant areas of territory.
