Lawyer Saimir Vishaj, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, spoke about the process against Veliaj and the trial that will be held for the security measure against the mayor. 

Vishaj also commented on the arrival of an American lawyer, who will serve as a consultant for Veliaj. He stated that this person cannot serve as a lawyer in Albania because he does not have a license, while not calling his presence very important for the process. 

"The appearance of a so-called lawyer on the scene today is pressure on justice. I am a lawyer and we do not know what he is, we do not know how he flew, he knows his job. This is not a matter of advocacy and no lawyer wants to say, not for Veliaj but for all other detainees. I do not know how he was allowed, the law recognizes the Albanian lawyer. His diploma and status must be recognized by the Ministry of Education and the permission of the bar association. Without these, a so-called American lawyer cannot, since he must at least take a power of attorney to the prosecutors. Even more so, to do morals in front of the prison doors. The prison administration has become a customs officer, it allows anyone. Meanwhile, yesterday it did not allow a convicted person for 5 grams of hashish, to attend his father's funeral. Meanwhile, these people come, meet, do... This is the second or third time that foreign lawyers have come.
The appointed judge is one of those who has courage. There is no change "prison, house arrest or mandatory reporting, because all of these require suspicion," said Vishaj. 

Asked how likely Veliaj is to be released from prison, Vishaj appeared pessimistic about his release. 

"Either we will be left without security measures, so that we do not have suspicions about this person, or any other measure creates suspicion based on evidence. Even house arrest does not work. In this type of tactic, the term American lawyer is very wrong. We have tried OMONIA with lawyers who did not bring anything new. For tomorrow I do not see any change in what has happened in these 30 days. It is not a matter of advocacy, for a lawyer to come and say I am an observer. As a lawyer, I say come out today, but whoever dared to make that decision is not subject to a 30-day deadline. It is the same file. I am pessimistic in the sense that we did not file it for 20 or 30 days," said Vishaj.
