Lela: How did Rama buy a $1.4 million watch with a prime minister's salary?

The Director of Communications at the Democratic Party, Alfred Lela, has cast strong doubts on the wealth of the head of government, Edi Rama, questioning the source of his income.
In a Facebook post, Lela ironized the luxury of NATO leaders, drawing attention to the Albanian prime minister's expensive watch.
"NATO leaders and their watches… Tell me: how is it possible that the socialist leader of Albania, who makes less than 200 thousand USD per year, can buy a watch that costs 1.4 million USD?" he writes.
The statement has sparked numerous reactions online, while the opposition has called this another scandal that shows the inexplicable enrichment of high-ranking officials at the expense of citizens. “ While Albanians face poverty and economic crisis, Rama appears with an accessory that no leader in the region can afford,” the Democratic Party said in a statement.
" Is this a gift from the oligarchs? Or a clear indication of the corruption that has gripped the government?" Lela asks in his post.
This is not the first time that Prime Minister Rama has been at the center of accusations for his lifestyle and use of luxury, while Albanians face economic difficulties.
