Kimmisch keeps Bayern anxious, sporting director speaks: We won't wait forever

What does the future hold for Joshua Kimmich? This already seems like a silly question, because the German midfielder born in 1995 will be a free agent at the end of the season. He has not yet given any indication whether he wants to continue with Bayern Munich or not.
A situation of which the German club is fully aware, as confirmed by sporting director Max Eberl, who has revealed some details that have long been circulating in Germany: "Joshua Kimmich turns 30 on Saturday. He has been a Bayern player for almost a decade. Footballers are people with their own life projects and not robots.
If Joshua says 'last summer I couldn't imagine renewing my contract, and now I'm probably thinking about it to some extent and I want to think about it', then for me it's completely legitimate". The German midfielder has not yet made a final decision. However, the Bavarian club does not want to put him under pressure:
"Of course we know we can't wait forever, but we want to give Joshua some time and let him reflect on whether Bayern Munich is the club he wants to continue at. That's the right thing to do. We don't want to force a player to sign a contract, we want him to do it with complete conviction. For us, it can't be about: You have two days, take it or leave it! If you put that pressure on him, it could happen that he says: If you only give me two days, I can't make a decision now, so I have to say no."
