"He's alive!", conspiracy theories about Jeffrey Epstein explode after the release of secret files

The death of Jeffrey Epstein and its circumstances, followed by scandals involving world-famous figures, have sparked a wave of conspiracy theories online. The most widespread of these is the claim that the convicted pedophile is “still alive,” following recent files released by the U.S. Department of Justice. Some social media users even claim to have seen him in person.
One of the most widespread theories, now debunked, involves a Fortnite account that was initially thought to belong to Epstein and was recently used. A viral image of a man with long, gray hair, purported to be Epstein, being seen in Israel, turned out to be an artificial intelligence creation.
The most extreme hypotheses include the idea that Epstein was “swapped” in prison with a corpse and is currently in Guantanamo Bay, being questioned for information on foreign countries. An image from the night of his death, showing an “orange glow” above his cell, was widely commented on on social media.
A poll conducted on X by Republican Representative Thomas Massie after the release of the Justice Department files showed the great interest in conspiracy theories: out of 147,000 participants, 46% said Epstein was still alive, 33% believed he was murdered, while only 3% believed he committed suicide.
This phenomenon highlights how powerfully published information can fuel speculation and conspiracy theories, influencing public perception of already globally known cases.
The evidence in the files makes it clear that he is alive.
