Time is no longer testing the Protest, but the power and the political class!
There is a constant effort by propaganda to present the passage of time as the government's strongest weapon. Thus, each passing day is proclaimed as a day closer to the suppression of the protest, and this, with the old logic of analyzing the protests with the current scheme.
But this logic has a big problem today, because it ignores the fact that after 40 days of massiveness and sustainability, the protest no longer needs to prove anything. Because now time is no longer testing the protesters, but now it is testing, above all, the government.
This is because when a protest continues with the same massiveness and determination for forty days, this is very bad news for the government.
Because it openly proves its powerlessness. A normal government, faced with such long-standing dissatisfaction, would have either convinced the citizens, or reflected and corrected its course.
When neither one nor the other happens, it means that we have already entered another phase, the phase of the crisis of political authority.
Therefore, every day that passes and citizens continue to be in the streets is a day that proves the deep crisis of authority that the government has entered, its powerlessness, and the fact that it has not been able to resolve the crisis and restore trust.
In short, not only has it failed to quell the protest despite violence and pressure, but it is proving that its only strategy and hope is to get people tired and then let fatigue do its job.
But political history shows that in the face of such protests, it is always the government that gets tired. Propaganda gets tired, arguments get used up, justifications become unbelievable, and it is precisely at this moment that the government's true exhaustion begins.
Because, after forty days, the protest no longer needs to prove that it exists. Now it is the government that must explain why, after forty days, it still has not found a way to resolve the crisis.
To return to the argument once again, time is not only not always the ally of power, but often, it is its harshest judge. And when a protest continues to defy time, it is not the protest that is failing, it is the government that is failing to govern!
