TIRANA - The General Directorate of Prisons has launched a disciplinary investigation into 8 police officers at Fier Prison, following a fight between members of criminal groups. Exclusive sources for Report TV indicate that the General Director of Prisons has also signed the order for the dismissal of 8 police officers, 2 of whom are accused of failing to provide information, while the others are accused of failing to fulfill their duties.
The Fier Prosecutor's Office has launched investigations to discover the cause that led to the clash between Aldo Gjin of the Rrajave group and Jurgen Zoto with Denis Bajri, part of the Shkodra group. Sources told Report TV that the 3 detainees had been spending time together in the common area of the sector for a long time and that they had not previously had any conflicts. Investigators have ruled out the possibility of a momentary conflict and suspect that the injury of the member of the notorious Shkodra group was a message from rival groups, including Ibrahim Lici's group, with whom they are known for many violent clashes.
From the testimony taken from Denis Bajri, the investigative group has also managed to shed light on the dynamics of the event. At the moment of the attack, sources explain that Gjini and Zoto approached Bajri with a phone in their hand, saying "you have this message from so-and-so". They then attacked him with a homemade knife. At this moment, Denis Bajri retaliated and the parties clashed physically. Bajri and Zota were injured, who is said to have suffered a wound due to the blow with a ring he received from a member of Bajri's group. Both were taken to the Fier hospital to receive medical attention and are out of danger to their lives.
The knife used in the attack has been seized along with the mobile phone, while the latter is expected to be taken into the custody of the BKH for expertise. Meanwhile, the Prisons have ordered the transfer of Jurgen Zoto to Burrel prison and Aldo Gjini to Drenova prison. Both will be isolated for 3 months.
Denis Bajri is accused by SPAK of being part of the Ervis Martinaj criminal group, missing since August 2022. On behalf of Martinaj, Denis Bajri is accused of participating in the elimination of Gjin Ndoj in 2020. He was extradited from the United Arab Emirates and SPAK has now passed the file for trial.
Aldo Gjini is part of the criminal group of 'Rraja' from Fushë-Krujë, who are accused by SPAK of having trafficked 2.4 tons of marijuana to Europe, an operation finalized at the beginning of the year in January, including Rexhep Rraja, the son of former Socialist Party MP Rrahman Rraja. The group trafficked drugs from Albania to Montenegro and Germany, from Albania to Turkey, as well as from South American countries to EU countries. In July 2021, Aldo Gjini was involved in a stabbing in Tirana. He was previously wanted by Euripol for murder and arms trafficking. He is suspected of being the perpetrator of a stabbing in November 2020 in Luxembourg. In 2016, he was arrested in Italy for drug distribution.
