The prosecution releases the 74-year-old detained in Kruja: There is no evidence, he was found putting out the fire

New details have come to light regarding the arrest of Qemal Berhami, the elderly man who was detained by police as the suspected cause of the fire in Kruja, which endangered homes and businesses in several neighborhoods of the city.

As Top Channel journalist Anila Hoxha reports, the prosecution has ordered the immediate release of the 74-year-old, describing his detention as illegal.

The Prosecution's files state that there is no evidence implicating the elderly man in causing the fire.

Also, according to the Prosecution, the detention was carried out without informing the prosecution.

When the police arrived near the area, Qemal Berhami was found putting out the fire.

In his testimony to the police, the elderly man stated that he did not cause the fire and that he was near the area, in a meadow that was not his land.

The prosecution believes that the data collected was contradictory and did not provide elements that would implicate the elderly man in the arson. The files also state that Berhami was cooperative with the authorities.

Despite the release, investigations into the fire continue, as authorities work to fully clarify the circumstances and determine responsibility.
