Wanted for 20 years for murder, Albanian arrested in Athens

A 48-year-old Albanian man, wanted for about 20 years by Albanian authorities for a murder, has been arrested in Athens.

The arrest was carried out yesterday afternoon in the Filothei area by a special task force of the Greek police, based on an international arrest warrant issued by the Albanian authorities.

According to the data, the 48-year-old is accused of murdering a fellow Albanian in Tirana in 2006. He is suspected of shooting the victim with a firearm.

After the arrest, the Albanian was sent to the competent Public Prosecutor's Office in Greece, while procedures for his extradition to Albania are expected to continue.
