'Butcher of Srebrenica', Ratko Mladic, dies! He was in a cell serving a life sentence for genocide

Bosnian Serb General Ratko Mladic died on Thursday at the age of 84 while in a United Nations detention center in The Hague. He was serving a life sentence for crimes committed during the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Known as the “Butcher of Bosnia,” Mladic was convicted in 2017 by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) for organizing a campaign of ethnic cleansing against Bosnia’s non-Serb population in the early 1990s. And this decision was upheld on appeal in 2021.
The UN-established court found Mladic guilty of genocide, crimes against humanity, persecution, extermination, murder, terror, unlawful attacks on civilians and hostage-taking.
He was also held responsible for his role in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, where around 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were killed.
