Qafë Thana "Unblocked", Truck Movement Resumes After 3 Days

After three days of "blockade" due to the protest of Macedonian truck drivers, from 8:00 PM tonight the complete unblocking of the Qafë Thana border crossing and all other border crossings between Albania and North Macedonia begins.
The blockade was organized by the North Macedonian Transporters Association, with the participation of around 370 truck drivers at 10 border crossings, in opposition to the new electronic entry-exit system in the Schengen area.
The solution came after the intervention of the European Commission, which will issue visas to the carriers.
North Macedonia's Transport Minister, Aleksandar Nikolloski, announced that Brussels has accepted the requests and will introduce a new strategy for professional drivers. However, transporters say that the visa regime is outdated, but they are ready to accept the solution in the absence of alternatives.
