Two winners announced for the towers at the “Zyber Hallulli” Children's Home

The winner of the competition for the “Zyber Hallulli” Children’s Home project is the “PROGEEN llc” Company, which competes together with a group of specialized subcontractors that includes Taller Hector Barroso, Studio B&L llc, Doriana Bleta, Agim Seranaj and Ardian Paci. The winning project aims to requalify this space by giving it an expanded social and community role, beyond the traditional institutional function.
The architectural concept proposed by PROGEEN llc treats the Children's Home as an open and integrated campus, where the buildings are organized in such a way as to create internal courtyards, recreational spaces and naturally lit educational environments. The project envisages a combination of educational, care and community activities functions, creating a protected, friendly and accessible environment for the children, staff and the surrounding community. The architectural approach aims for the building not to be isolated, but to communicate with the surrounding public spaces, making the area more lively and functional.
Meanwhile, for the functional towers project, the winner was announced as the “MOTUS” shpk Company, which collaborates with subcontractors “Asab” shpk, Son Engineering & Construction, Rojkind Arquitectos SC and Julian Kasharaj. The MOTUS shpk project aims to develop a multifunctional urban complex, which includes towers with mixed functions and that are directly related to the urban context of the area near the “Air Albania” Stadium and the Inspectorate Corps.
According to the presented concept, the towers are conceived as modern buildings with various functions, including offices, services, commercial spaces and other urban activities. Their organization creates an integrated ensemble, where movement, accessibility and visual connection between buildings are key elements. The facades and architectural forms aim to create a new urban identity for the area, contributing to its transformation into a new functional and dynamic city center.
In addition to the winning projects, several other construction and design studios and companies also participated in the competition, which presented various architectural and urban alternatives. DIAGONAL PROJEKTIM & ZBATIM in collaboration with ASL shpk proposed a development with towers and green spaces, where the buildings were combined with public areas and underground parking. BE-IS shpk together with CEBRA Arkitekter A/S presented a project with a more conceptual character, inspired by the idea of a “village” for children, where the buildings and squares created a more intimate and community environment. Meanwhile, GRUPPO KONI SRL, with the participation of the Stefano Boeri Architetti studio, brought a project that emphasized greenery, the combination with nature and the construction of buildings with mixed functions, aiming to create a more sustainable urban landscape.
The competition showed high interest from local and international studios, reflecting the importance of this development for the urban transformation of the "Zyber Hallulli" area and for creating a balance between the social function of the Children's Home and the development of new multifunctional structures.
