Trump: Putin agreed to a week-long ceasefire in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump said today that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, accepted his request not to attack Kiev and other Ukrainian cities and villages for a week.
"I personally asked President Putin not to fire on Kiev and the cities and villages for a week," Trump said during a press conference, noting that Ukraine is currently facing extremely low temperatures.
"And he agreed to do that. And I have to tell you, it was very nice," Trump added,

The US president did not clarify when or how he conveyed this request to Putin, or what date the supposed ceasefire would begin.
Russian forces launched an attack on Kiev overnight on January 28, marking just the latest assault on the capital in Moscow's campaign aimed at knocking out Ukraine's energy grid amid freezing temperatures.
