"Albania 1" and "Albania 2", the Albanian government's contract with ''Satellogic'' for satellite monitoring is extended by 11 months

Satellogic, a vertically integrated geospatial company providing high-resolution Earth Observation (EO) at an unprecedented scale and cost, announced today the extension of its existing agreement with the Government of Albania to continue satellite monitoring across the country, at high frequency, using its NewSat constellation.
The 11-month contract extension builds on a previously signed three-year agreement, which provided Albania with dedicated satellite capacity and the naming of two satellites, Albania-1 and Albania-2. Under the extended agreement, Albanian government agencies will continue to receive frequent, high-resolution (50 cm) imagery covering the entire country, enabling continuous surveillance and a centralized intelligence flow for national priorities.
This extension reflects Albania’s ongoing commitment to move from reactive, event-based activations to a sustained state of awareness at a national scale. With dedicated access to the Satellogic fleet, Albania can continuously detect changes, identify anomalies, and act with confidence across a range of uses, including illegal construction, deforestation, natural resource management, and disaster and emergency response.

This extension demonstrates that sustainable monitoring is now both operationally necessary and economically viable, ensuring that no critical change goes unnoticed.”
The company has not published financial details of the agreement and it has not been announced how much Albania will pay for the extension of the agreement./ ekofin.al
